Hello friends,
I know it’s been a long time since I gave birth to Wendy, and this post might be quite late but I wanted to make sure I at least let you guys know how the end of my pregnancy went. By the way, it went well. Unlike the first and second trimester, my third trimester was pretty quiet, thank goodness.
In the last months of my pregnancy, I managed to get a lot of stuff done. I took my own maternity photos, enjoyed my baby shower, and finished the nursery! It goes without saying that getting to the third trimester was such a relief, as much as I loved being pregnant, I just wanted to be able to hold Wendy. So I was counting down the days!
Since I was counting, Chris and I figured that we better have a room for her to rest her head….that wasn’t packed with our office furniture or random papers and boxes. We cleared out our office, moved it to the basement, and turned the room into our little girl’s nursery. We decided to keep the forest wall I had painted years ago and just added to it and repainted the rest of the walls in a mint green. Because Wendy is our rainbow baby, we also decided to paint a HUGE rainbow on the wall. We figured it would be colourful and something she would look at.
Once the nursery was painted and the furniture ordered, Chris and I relaxed for a little bit. Any even saw a 3D ultrasound of Wendy, which was SUPER COOL!!! Look at our first family photo.
Then my mom, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law threw me an amazing Peter Pan/Neverland themed baby shower!
I had a lot of fun at my shower, and baby Wendy could not be more loved. Everyone seemed so excited to celebrate her pending arrival and meet the little ‘Darling.’
Once the shower was over, we tried to put away all the lovely gifts we received (realizing how small of a house we live in…) and use the last few weeks before Wendy came to just enjoy being the married couple with a dog. It was crazy to think (and sometimes a little overwhelmingly scary) that we were going to go from being just a couple with a dog to parents of a kid and a dog…..parents….us….the geeky couple who watches cartoons, plays Halo (and lego Harry Potter) and travel to Disney World 1-3x a year…parents….wow. Still was crazy but so cool.
Then my last day of work came and shit got real. My doctors went back and forth on when to induce me. One week it was at 38 weeks, then 39 weeks, then back to 38 weeks, until finally deciding on 39 weeks. Because of all the miscarriages we had and not knowing what caused them, my doctors didn’t want to take any risks. So while they went back and forth I decided to take my maternity photographs. I actually took them myself. I did write a blog post about how to take your own maternity photography.
After all that waiting it was finally time and after a week of failure inductions, Wendy Evelynn was born on Saturday September 17th 2016 at 8:33am. I will write about Wendy’s birth story when I have some more time but it will happen. So stay tuned.
