This week we’re all about the inspiration for the bathroom. It’s taken me a bit of time to settle on the colour scheme and decor for our new bathroom but I think I have found my style. It’s modern, fun, and a mix of different colours and metals. I wanted to add a sense of charm and relaxation but also let my family’s personality shine through.
I knew from the beginning I wanted to incorporate elements of gold into the design, but when I started searching for gold faucets, I quickly realized although pretty totally outside of our budget. So I began thinking of ways to mix metals and materials to create the look I want. I also know that I’m someone who loves to change up the looks of my rooms every so often, so I want to make sure the major elements, like the tub, vanity, wall colour, etc are neutral enough that a change of curtains, towels or mat will pop and change the look and feel of the washroom.
If you read last weeks post on what our bathroom looked like before, you’ll understand why we needed to demo it to the bones. It wasn’t pretty nor practical. Everything always felt dirty, no matter how many times I cleaned it. So this time, I want elements that feel fresh and new. The tub, toilet and vanity are bright white. The wall fixtures are gold, the walls will be a colour called Summer Grey by Valspar, the towel bar will be gold, and the bath mat will be a fresh orange/pink peach that I found at Urban Outfitters.
So far everything is coming together nicely. I just hope we can get this bathroom done quickly. It’s the only full piece we have in the house and we a dog and toddler, we are really missing the tub and shower. Thank goodness that we live near my mother in law. We’ve been using her shower and tub during this time.
Anyways, stay tuned until next week. We’re talking about all demo and rebuilding!
