Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups of sushi rice
- 3 cups water
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp sugar
- pinch of salt
Instructions
- Put your rice in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under cold water for 2-4 minutes or until the water runs clear.
- Put the rice and water into a pot and bring to a boil, uncovered, on high heat.
- Cover and reduce heat to low/simmer once it reaches a boil and let cook for 15-20 minutes. Then remove from heat.
- In a small bowl, combine the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Whisk until the sugar dissolves.
- Combine the rice and the vinegar together until the rice is well coated.
- Let your rice cool down and use it in sushi bowls, handrolls, and sushi rolls.
Notes
- You absolutely need to rinse your rice BEFORE cooking. This removes a lot of the starch and will give you a sticky rice rather than a mushy mess.
