Tis the season for cozy sweaters, warm blankets, and mulled wine. After attending the Toronto Christmas market last year and experiencing a sweet and warn cup of mulled wine during a winter’s eve with twinkling light hanging above me, I knew I wanted to create my own magical experience at home.
This recipe of pulls in all the wonderful flavours of the season and only takes a little bit of time to make. It’s perfect for a small gathering or double the recipe and it’ll be a hit at your next Christmas party. Any leftovers, just refill your empty bottles and open them up at your next holiday event or when you tune in to the next Hallmark Christmas movie.
All you need are two bottles of red wine, 2 oranges, a few sticks of cinnamon, cloves, ginger, brown sugar, and star anise. Stir it all together in a large pot and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Let simmer for 20 minutes or more. The longer it simmers the more the flavours with fuse together.
PrintCranberry and Orange Mulled Wine
Description
This mulled wine warms the palate with flavours of cranberries, oranges, spices, and sweetness.
Ingredients
- 2 bottles of red wine
- 2 oranges, slices
- 1 cup of cranberries
- 5 sticks of cinnamon
- 5 star anise
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cloves
- 1 tsp ginger, ground
Instructions
- In a large pot combine all the ingredients together
- Stir ingredients and bring to a simmer
- Simmer on low for 20 minutes or more
Notes
When you’re ready to store any leftovers, strain the wine into empty bottles.
