It’s that time of year again, no not Christmas, it’s Sangria season!!! Okay, sangria is pretty much good all year round, but this one is great for those hot summer parties you’ll be hosting in your backyard this year. This sparkling wine sangria is so light tasting and refreshing and perfect for hanging out by the pool or relaxing on your deck with a good book. Read More
4 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Starting A Blog
Is it just me or does it feel like the blog world has exploded in recent years? I feel like I’m running into more and more bloggers these days, which honestly, is amazing. I’ve met and become friends with some incredible people because of blogging. And while it’s tempting for many to want to be apart of this inspiring online community, there are some very important questions to ask yourself before you make the decision to start your own blog.
The Perfect Gift for the Coffee-Loving Mom
Anyone that knows me knows exactly how much I value my daily latte. Its become an important part of my morning routine but that daily latte isn’t exactly budget friendly nor is it really convenient to get my 18-month-old daughter ready, which might take an eternity, just to grab a latte at the local coffee shop. And I don’t know about you but I have really come to appreciate my morning coffee, especially when I know that my day will probably include tears, wiping up the flood that hit during bathtime, and the screaming that’s bound to take place because I won’t let her touch the dog’s eyeball. This motherhood thing is really tough sometimes and exhausting. By the time Wendy’s bedtime rolls around, I’m ready for bed too and some nights, I’m not ashamed to admit it, I’m in bed by 7 pm and then up at sunrise to start the whole process over again and most days Wendy wakes up just a few minutes after I do, leaving very little time to actually enjoy a quiet moment. Now I’m not saying that I don’t love my daughter or the time I spend with her, it’s just that sometimes a little quiet time to ourselves is important for our own mental well-being, it’s not selfish, we’re not being greedy, yes we’re moms but we are still people with our own needs and wants and sometimes all this mama wants is 2 minutes of quiet time to enjoy her coffee and start her day.
Now if you’re like me you probably need that cup of coffee and quiet time too. You probably don’t want to make an entire pot of coffee just to have most of it sit there getting cold all day then have to pour it out at the end of the night. Not to mention that a regular coffee machine probably won’t make a fancy latte for you. And when it’s come to coffee machines, I’ve tried so many of them and I can honestly say that only one has really impressed me. De’Longhi Lattissima One has been a morning time saver for me. It’s everything I could ever want in a coffee machine. It’s easy to use, simple to clean and creates creamy lattes in seconds. Yeah, seconds and all I do is drop a capsule in the slot, fill the milk container, and then press a button.
This is What Migraine Sufferers Want You To Know
Migraines are no walk in the park. I have experienced migraines since I was 9 years old, that’s right, 9 and I wouldn’t wish them on my worse enemy. It has made life incredibly difficult at times, so much so that I don’t think the people around me fully grasp the severity of them. Over the years, I’ve found that people who have never experienced a migraine in their lives, don’t really understand just how bad episodes can get. So in an effort to help spread awareness here are some things that migraine sufferers want you to know.Read More
We Need to Stop Telling Pregnant Women Horrible Labour Stories
I recently had a conversation with a pregnant friend of mine. We started chatting about pregnancy and labour since she was coming up on her due day. I wasn’t even really putting much thought when I told her that labour really wasn’t that bad but I was taken back a bit when she and her husband both thanked me for my 2 cents. They went on to say that I was the first person who hadn’t told them some labour horror story. That made me think back to all the stories I heard before I gave birth, and I hadn’t realized it before, but they were right. I remember hearing a lot of labour horror stories from friends, co-workers, strangers. It’s almost like the minute we see a pregnant woman, we have this need to share some horrid labour story with her for some reason and that really needs to stop because it won’t help her when the time comes.
Self Care Ideas to Cure a Bad Day
Recently I purchased a book on Hygge because I had heard so many YouTubers and fellow bloggers talking about living the Hygge life. I had no idea what the heck they were talking about. So I did some research, as in searched through Pinterest and Instagram, and found photo after photo of “cozy” decor, photos of perfectly poured lattes, and warm blankets in a fall setting. I figured there was a little bit more to it all, so I bought The Little Book of Hygge by Meik Wiking in an effort to figure it out myself and what I took away from it is that the focus is more on self-care than anything else.
