If you follow my Instagram, then you probably noticed back in December that I tried out a few meal delivery services, one of them being Goodfood. I should mention that I was not asked to review them, this isn’t a sponsored post, nor was I paid anything to try them. I was just at a point in my life where I was struggling to keep up with my schedule, with therapy, Christmas around the corner, toddler meltdowns, blogging, and coursework, dinner was the last thing on my mind. Chris’ schedule was really no better, and we all became tired of soup and crackers for dinner every night. Then as I was watching a YouTube video, a Good Food commercial came on, and I thought ‘hmm I’ll give that a try’ and here we are. After a few weeks of meals, we were pretty impressed.
I should mention that Goodfood wasn’t the only meal kit delivery service I subscribed to during that time. I also tested out Hello Fresh, which I’ll write another review on. Both services had some good and some bad.
Everyone always wants to know ‘ is it really worth it?’ Yes and no. It does depend on you and your situation. The meals were tasty, the price could have been better, and the prep wasn’t too time-consuming.
Goodfood is a once a week, meal delivery subscription service that sends you fresh ingredients so you can cook up some tasty meals for dinner. They take the thinking out of dinner prep, which we all know is the hardest part of dinner. Anyone who tells you that cooking dinner is the hardest part of dinner is lying to you. Figuring out what to make for dinner is the hardest part.
There are several different ways to customize your meal delivery. You can change up your meal weekly or even skip a week, which is great, especially if you go on vacation or maybe don’t feel like spending the money one week.
They also offer five different kinds of main boxes to choose from; each one contained raw ingredients to cook two to four servings recipes.

The Meals
Depending on the box, you can choose between two to four recipes per box. Since this was my first try at a meal delivery subscription, I decided to go with the Classic box, two servings per recipe. I figured this would be an excellent place to start since Wendy doesn’t really eat a full adult-serving. I’m glad I did too since I did find the serving sizes to be a little on the larger size. I also tried a few weeks to really get a good idea of what kind of meals Goodfood provided.
Each meal’s non-meat ingredients are packed into breathable bags, and the meat is placed at the bottom of the box with ice packs.
All the meals were easy to follow. The recipes are beautifully printed, and each step is photographed to give you an idea of what the step requires, which is great. All the meals were pretty flavourful, and I think there was only one or two that we didn’t really care for, but overall they were great. Even Wendy, my two-year daughter, enjoyed the meals.
Pricing
There is a range when it comes to pricing out the boxes. If you’re used to couponing or bargain-chasing these boxes are definitely not bargain-friendly. Regular price for these boxes starts at $65.00 per week. You can usually get some discount for the first week, or you can use my link to below to get $40 off if you subscribe to Goodfood.

While $65.00/week isn’t cheap, it may sense for my family. I found that because the meal planning was done, I wasn’t wasting as much food as before. I would buy ingredients that would spoil before I even had a chance to use them. Plus I wasn’t wasting time trying to decide what to make for dinner.
Prices are inclusive of delivery, and Goodfood currently serves customers across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Québec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
Would I recommend Goodfood
Yes. While I skip a few weeks here and there, overall I’m pleased with the service. Each week I log on and pick three meals from the selection. The system is pretty easy to navigate through, and they give you the ability to change options and boxes at any time. The ingredients have always been fresh, and the recipes are delicious.
I do wish it was a little cheaper but not wasting money on ingredients I never end up using does save me money in the long run. I also wish the recipes were a bit more calorie friendly. Some of the servings are 800 to 1000 calories, which I find to be too high, but when I’m picking out the meal each week, I can choose lower calorie meals. All the nutritional information can be found online, and the calorie count is included in the printed recipe cards.
